On February 27th, China Association of Higher Education issued a notice announcing the list of leading universities and member universities in the "China-Arab University 10+10 Cooperation Plan". Southwest Petroleum University was selected as a member university in the field of energy transformation in the cooperation plan. There are a total of 41 member universities in this field, including Peking University, China University of Petroleum (Beijing), China University of Petroleum (East China), Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Sichuan University and other well-known universities.
To implement Youth Development, one of 8 major cooperation initiatives put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping during the first China-Arab States Summit, "China-Arab University 10+10 Cooperation Plan" was carried out. In 2023, China Association of Higher Education organized the leading universities and member universities to apply for this plan under the guidance of the Department of International and Exchanges, Ministry of Education. According to the application requirements, SWPU International Cooperation and Exchange Office took the lead in sorting out the achievements in exchange and cooperation with Arab states, drafted and submitted the application materials. After qualification review and expert evaluation, 321 universities across the country have been selected as Chinese member universities of the "China-Arab University 10+10 Cooperation Plan".
In recent years, Southwest Petroleum University has cooperated actively with Arab states and collaborated with government agencies and institutions such as the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia, Moroccan Mining Higher School, and Abu Dhabi Petroleum Institute in the United Arab Emirates to carry out specific work in the field of energy, encouraging Chinese youth studying in Afghanistan, and Afghan youth studying in China, and the construction of the International Cooperation Alliance for Science and Technology Innovation with joint efforts, and in particular, the landmark project "Iraqi Youth Scholarship Program for Studying in China (Zhenhua Oil Scholarship Program)".
The "China-Arab University 10+10 Cooperation Plan" is implemented by China and Arab states within the framework of exchange mechanism, focusing on ten major fields, namely information and communications, agricultural development, public health, green innovation, energy transformation, civilization dialogue, youth development, public policy, aerospace, and economic and trade investment. Ten university cooperation communities will be established, each with a leading university to promote inter-school exchanges and cooperation.
