On the morning of October 19, the Norwegian digital company Kongsberg and Southwest Petroleum University held a signing ceremony for the donation of one set of software worthy of $20 million, including K-Spice, a dynamic oil & gas process and control simulator, and LedaFlow, a multiphase flow simulator.
The donation ceremony was held at the State Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Reservoir Geology and Exploitation. Zhao Zhengwen, vice secretary of SWPU Party Committee, Zhang Tianjun, secretary of School of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering Party Committee, Lars-Erik Svab?, corporate vice president and sales director of Kongsberg Digital, and Wu Haifeng, general manager of Kongsberg Digital Greater China Region, attended the ceremony. A friendly conversation was followed.
Firstly, Zhao Zhengwen expressed a welcome for the visit of Lars-Erik Svab? and gratefulness for the donation of the software. “Kongsberg’s donation of the software is a great support for SWPU”, said Zhao, “Your company provides world-class software which is of great value to our university’s talent development and scientific research. I hope we can enhance our cooperation and communication, and promote the development of both sides.”
Lars-Erik Svab? said, “We are thankful for your warm welcome and we appreciate your acceptance of our donation. This set of software can be applied to business, education and experiments, and is used in universities worldwide. And the University professors write high-quality papers with it as well. The “Oil & Gas Transportation and Storage Simulation Training Center” will be established by our company in your university, which helps faculties and students learn the software, improving its effectiveness in teaching and research. I hope we will continue to strengthen our cooperation in the future.”
Wu Haifeng introduced Kongsberg Digital and its software. Kongsberg Digital is Kongsberg Gruppen’s fully-owned subsidiary, mainly involved in providing software and digital solutions to the oil & gas industry, marine transportation, renewable energy and public affairs. The donation of K-Spice dynamic oil & gas process and control simulator and LedaFlow multiphase flow simulator includes 50 copies of authorized server edition and 5 copies of offline edition, and will be used mainly in teaching and research of the oil & gas storage and transportation discipline.
After the conversation, Lars-Erik Svab? and Zhang Tianjun together signed the software donation agreement. Lars-Erik Svab? and Zhao Zhengwen together launched the inauguration of SWPU-Kongsberg “Oil & Gas Transportation and Storage Simulation Training Center”.
Afterwards, Lars-Erik Svab? was accompanied by Zhao Zhengwen and visited the National Virtual Simulated Experimental and Teaching Center for Oil & Gas Exploitation and the Petroleum Engineering Software Center. He experienced our university’s latest VR-based offshore oil & gas drilling platform simulator and highly praised the accomplishments of the center.
